European Commission authorises off its own bat import and marketing of genetically modified maize 1507 for animal feed

Brussels, 07/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - For the fourth time running, the European Commission has decided off its own bat to authorise the marketing of a new genetically modified organism (GMO) on which Member States had previously been unable to decide. This time it is the genetically modified maize 1507 of the US group, Pioneer Hi-Bred International/Mycogen Seeds that can be legally imported, processed and used in the EU for animal feed but not for food crops.
