British VODAFONE is in exclusive talks for acquisition of 15% of the mobile phone operator, VODACOM, from the REMBRANDT TRUST fund, for the sum of EUR 2 billion. The operation would increase VODAFONE's stake from 35% to 50%. The British operator would then control VODACOM equally with the traditional South-African operator, TELKOM. VODACOM currently has 17.2 million clients including 14.3 million in South Africa (i.e. 57% of the market).
