Experience of European CIVITAS programme in towns to develop clean urban transport must be of benefit to new Member States

Brussels, 04/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - Vice President of the European Commission and Transport Commissioner, Jacques Barrot, was in Nantes, France, on Thursday for the conference on 'Integrating Sustainable Transport Policies', organised by Forum CIVITAS 2005. The 36 European towns which have participated in the European CIVITAS programme (CIty-VITAlity-Sustainability) since its launch in 2002, are trying to find alternative solutions to the use of cars in town, in order to reduce pollution...
