04/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - A debate on the future of the European freight market organised by the Community of European Railways (CER) and infrastructure companies and opened by the Dutch MEP, Corien Wortmann-Kool (EPP-ED), EP rapporteur on the proposal for a Eurovignette Directive, will be held at the European Parliament on 9 November. The consultancy firm, McKinsley, will on this occasion present its study on the future of freight market liberalisation, comparing the structure of costs for rail and road, and envisaging the possibilities of modal transfer in favour of rail transport. The debate will be attended by the vice-chairman of the transport committee, Jacques Barrot; the CEOs of SNCF and Deutsche Bahn, Louis Gallois and Hartmut Mehdorn; the Swiss ambassador to the EU, Bernhard Marfurt; and the Polish MEP, Boguslaw Liberadzki (PES).
