European Court of Human Rights slams ban on Macedonian party in Bulgaria

Brussels, 03/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - In two rulings on 20 October 2005, the European Court of Human Rights unanimously ruled that the Bulgarian constitutional court has violated Article 11 of the European Convention of Human Rights, which guarantees freedom of association. Bulgaria is found guilty of banning the OMO Ilinden Pirin Party (a Macedonian minority Party for Economic Development and Integration) and banning peaceful meetings of supporters of UMO Ilinden on a number of occasions...
