Eurocop President slams authoritarian moves in Slovakia over police

Brussels, 03/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - EuroCOP President Heinz Kiefer has slammed recent developments in Slovakia, commenting that 'the Slovakian Interior Minister appears determined to move further down the road to reintroduce authoritarian structures in Slovakia'. Slovak interior minister Vladimir Palko has demoted Miroslav Litva, President of the Police Union in Slovakia following a legal demonstration of over 3000 police offers for higher wages in Bratislava on 25 October.
