27/10/2005 (Agence Europe) - In Brussels on 8 November, FRIDE and Freedom House are holding a conference on Cuba entitled 'Common Goals, Different Strategies? Options for a transatlantic agenda on Cuba'. The conference will be attended by diplomats, academics, researchers, members of NGOs, members of the European Commission and members of the US administration, who will look at three themes: the best instruments and strategies for contributing to democratic change in Cuba; how to define more coherent EU and US policies towards Cuba: and whether there is a common base for a transatlantic policy on Cuba. Spanish EPP-ED MEP Jose Ignacio Salafranca and fellow Spaniard, President of the European Parliament, Josep Borrell, will be speaking during the closing of the conference.
