14/10/2005 (Agence Europe) - Following a meeting on Thursday between the President of the German Bank West LB, Thomas Fischer, and Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes, a spokesperson for Kroes said she had congratulated West LB on its level of cooperation, noting that the Commission now had all the figures it needed to decide on the re-capitalisation of the regional German state bank. In October 2004, West LB had to repay more than EUR 900 million it had received in unauthorised aid (see EUROPE 8811). In September, the European Commission gave the go-ahead to the restructuring of three other Landesbanken, whose recapitalisation did not include any state aid (see EUROPE 9021).
