14/10/2005 (Agence Europe) - As previously announced, the Commission is to examine the budgetary situation of Hungary on 20 October (EUROPE 9046). It will adopt a new recommendation re-assessing the Hungarian excessive deficit and will state that the measures taken by Budapest in response to requests by the Council of last March have proved insufficient. The Hungarian deficit is likely to end up at 6.1% in 2005, although the objective was to bring it down to 3.6%.
