10/10/2005 (Agence Europe) - Ahead of Tony Blair's special summit of 27-28 October at Hampton Court Palace in Surrey (near London), the European Social NGO Platform is holding a conference in Brussels on 11-12 October on building social policy based on fundamental rights, chaired by Anne-Sophie Parent, the Platform's chair, and Ursula Haubner, Austrian social affairs minister. Participants will examine the implications of a fundamental rights-based approach for stakeholders involved in forming social policy. Seven workshops will be held, on issues like unauthorised migrant workers, the minimum wage, healthcare rights and education. The conference will draw up recommendations for NGOs and politicians.
