Brussels, 19/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - The EU Council of Ministers is expected to formally adopt on Tuesday the regulation setting up the new European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) for 2007-13. Agriculture ministers from EU Member States reached a political agreement on this dossier last year (a priority of the Luxembourg presidency - EUROPE 8974). A minimum amount of 10% from EAFRD funding is expected to go to improving competitiveness in agriculture and forestry (Intervention Axis 1 ), 25% for environmental measures and land management (Axis II) and 10% for improving the quality of life and diversification of the rural economy (Axis III). 5% of funding is also expected to go towards “Leader”.
