The Commissioners will see whether the strategic objectives of the Commission, which were defined in 2004, had been achieved or, if not, "whether they still correspond to the expectations of the citizens"; -preparations for the informal European Council of 27/28 October, to be held in Hampton Court Palace and which will focus mainly on the future of the European economic and social model (see EUROPE 9027, p.8). The Commission intends to make an important contribution to the summit, and work within the services of the Commission are already underway (see the aforementioned EUROPE, p.8) ; - the contribution the Commission is to make to the "period of reflection" decreed by the European Council of last June, further to the French and Dutch know-votes on the European Constitution. Particular attention will be granted to involvement in "plan D" for dialogue, said Ms Le Bail ; -the highly topical "major dossiers", particularly seeking agreement on me financial perspectives 2007-2013. "President Barroso hopes that a solution can be found by the end of the year", the spokesperson stressed. Mr Barroso is to present the results of the seminar at a press conference on Wednesday.
