16/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - From 2012 onwards, the meetings of the European Council (European Union heads of state) will be held in Brussels (as has been the case since 2002) but at 'Residence Palace' on rue de la Loi. To this end, a European architecture competition is being organised to re-design Block A of Residence Palace. An international jury has selected as prize-winner a project headed by a team of architects and enginners, Samyn and Partners (Belgium), Studio Valle Progettazioni (Italy) and Buro Happold (UK). From 27 September to 14 October 2005 there will be a public exhibition in Residence Palace of all the compettion entires. The European Council meetings are currently held in the Council headquarters, the Justus Lipsius building.
