04/08/2005 (Agence Europe) - The prime ministers of the countries of South East Europe, who met on 2 and 3 August in Salzburg under the co-chairmanship of Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel and the Special Coordinator of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, Erhard Busek, discussed how appropriate it was to conclude a single Free Trade Agreement that would upgrade a complex network of twenty-nine bilateral free trade agreements in force in the Balkans. A press release stresses that the meeting, which is the fourth of its kind, takes on special importance in the run up to the Austrian EU Council Presidency during the first half of 2006. It recalls that the countries concerned also intend to conclude a treaty on energy.
