Brussels, 30/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - The acquisition of Delphi's car starter battery business by VB, the automotive battery joint venture of Johnson Controls and Bosch, a US-based global supplier of automotive components (seating, interior and instrument panels and batteries). Bosch is a German supplier of automotive technology, power tools, security, automation and packaging technology. The Commission concluded that the acquisition will further strengthen JCI/Bosch's already leading position market investigation but that this market is highly competitive, with decreasing prices resulting from overcapacity, increasing imports from outside the EEA and the purchasing power of a consolidated car industry. The market investigation indicated that this transaction will not change the competition outlook as viable alternative suppliers such as Exide and FIAMM remain.
