Commission suggests radical reform of common market organisation for sugar - ACP countries are very concerned

Brussels, 22/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - As announced earlier (EUROPE 8951), the European Commission adopted, on Wednesday, a proposal for radical recasting of the common market organisation for sugar, with a 39% price reduction over two years and the launching of a voluntary restructuring plan for the sector. The 18 countries of Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific that traditionally export sugar to the European market have protested, considering the aid regime insufficient. Mariann Fischer...
