Venice commission crticises Frattini and Gasparri laws

Brussels, 16/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Venice Commission, a body of the Council of Europe, upon the request of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, has adopted its opinion on the compatibility of the Italian ''Gasparri'' and ''Frattini'' laws with European standards. The Gasparri law stipulates that a single person cannot own more than 20% of a country's television channels whereas the Frattini law focuses on conflicts of interest, banning the accumulation of public...
