Olli Rehn calls upon Croatia to cooperate fully with Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia

Brussels, 08/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Commissioner for Enlargement, Olli Rehn, has taken note of the report by Carla del Ponte recommending that the EU wait a few months before deciding whether the Croatian action plan on cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia has had results which will allow accession negotiations to be opened with Zagreb (EUROPE 8963). Emphasising that "Croatia's future is in the EU", Mr Rehn warned: "I am aware of the concerns of the citizens regarding future waves of enlargement of the Union. My advice to the candidate and potential candidate countries therefore is to do their utmost to stick firmly to the criteria and fulfil the conditions for accession ".
