08/06/2005 (Agence Europe) - In April 2005, the volume of retail sales fell 0.9% in the euro zone and 0.3% in the EU of 25, compared to April 2004. When compared to March 2005, the indices fell 1.2% and 0.7% respectively. Taken annually, the food, drinks and tobacco sector took the worst tumble, dropping 1.4% and 0.4% respectively, whereas the non-food sector fell 0.1% in the euro zone and remained stable in the EU of 25.
