24/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - By request of Portugal, Monday's “External Relations” Council expressed its “serious concern” that Kumba Yala has proclaimed himself President of Guinea-Bissau. “We have reaffirmed our support for the transition process, in close collaboration with the rest of the international community, in order to ensure that the elections of 10 June take place clearly and transparently”, the Council President, Jean Asselborn, told the press.
