24/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - Spain has requested the registration of “Pimiento Asado del Bierzo” (a grilled pepper preserve from Bierzo) in the 1992 list for protected geographical appellations of origin. The area where the product is produced and processes is in the centre of the Bierzo region in the province of Léon, which is part of the autonomous Community of Castilla-Léon. The request for protected geographical indication (PGI) was published in Official Journal C125 on 24 May 2005.
