Brussels, 23/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - According to Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities in the period February March 2005 Industrial production was down by 0.2% in euro-zone and in the EU25 by 0.3%. The highest increases were registered in Ireland (+4.1%), Lithuania (+3.7%), Estonia (+3.3%) and Latvia (+2.6%), while the largest decreases were recorded in the Netherlands (-3.9%), Greece (-2.3%), Belgium (-1.9%) and Poland (-1.6%). In March 2005 compared to March 2004, industrial production declined by 0.1% in the euro-zone and by 0.5% in the EU25. The highest increases were registered in Estonia (+12.1%), Lithuania (+9.3%), Luxembourg (+4.5%) while the largest decreases were recorded in Belgium (-5.9%), Greece (-4.9%), Denmark and Portugal (both -4.6%). In March 2005 compared to February 2005, production of capital goods grew by 1.0% in the euro-zone and by 0.8% in the EU25, while the energy sector rose by 0.6% and by 0.2% respectively. Durable consumer goods decreased by 0.3% in both zones. Non-durable consumer goods declined by 0.4% in the euro-zone and by 0.5% in the EU25. Intermediate goods fell by 0.8% and by 1.1% respectively. In March 2005 compared to March 2004, capital goods rose by 1.3% in the euro-zone and by 1.5% in the EU25. The energy sector gained 0.9% in the euro-zone, but decreased by 0.5% in the EU25. Intermediate goods fell by 0.3% in the euro -zone and by 1.0% in the EU25. Non-durable consumer goods decreased by 1.1% and 1.5% respectively. Durable consumer goods fell by 3.7% in the euro-zone and by 3.0% in the EU25.
