Brussels, 23/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - “The euro has made this miracle possible”, Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker said in Brussels on 23 May during the launching of a Belgian-Luxembourg two euro commemorative coin. “It was necessary to wait for European economic and monetary union for the Belgian and Luxembourg banks to bring out a common coin, despite the fact that they have had a monetary association since 1922”, the president of the European Council and of Eurogroup said during minting of the first coin, with Belgian Finance Minister Didier Reynders. The coin, bearing the effigy of the two Heads of State (King Albert II and Great Duke Henri), is circulated at 6 million copies, on the occasion of renewal of the convention on Belgian-Luxembourg Economic Union (UEBL).
