18/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, the European Transport Federation (ETF) has criticised the measure taken by the European airline Ryanair, which has just granted a salary increase only to those of its employees which are not members of a trade union. The company justifies this by stating that this increase was granted to staff members which took part in direct negotiations with it. In the view of Erika Young, the President of the civil aviation section of ETF, this is an anti-social, totally unacceptable, discriminatory measure, which may even be unlawful in some countries. She feels that it is time that Ryanair stops its anti-union practices, so that its employees may freely join any trade union without fear of discriminatory treatment.
