18/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - The EP is calling on the EU to play an active role in the next negotiations with the Parties of the Aarhus Convention (Conference of Almaty, Kazakhstan on 25-27 May 2005: EUROPE 8907). In its resolution adopted on 12 May, Parliament underlines that the exact provisions should be established to guarantee effective public participation in the decisions involving GMOs, if necessary by amending the Aarhus Convention.
