Brussels, 09/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - According to the Statistical Office of the European Communities, Eurostat The euro-zone industrial producer price index and rose by 0.6% in March 2005 compared with the previous month and in March 2005, EU25 prices grew by 0.7%. In February prices rose by 0.4% in both the euro-zone and the EU25.In March 2005 compared to March 2004, industrial producer prices grew by 4.2% in the euro-zone and by 5.2% in the EU25. Euro-zone and EU25 producer prices, total industry excluding construction Monthly changes In March 2005, compared to the previous month, prices in total industry excluding the energy sector rose by 0.1% in both the euro-zone and the EU25. Prices in energy grew by 2.5% and 2.4% respectively. In both zones, intermediate goods increased by 0.2% and capital goods and non-durable consumer goods by 0.1%. Durable consumer goods rose by 0.1% in the euro-zone and by 0.2% in the EU25. Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases were registered in Denmark (+3.4%), Greece (+1. 7%), Lithuania and the Netherlands (both +1.1%). In March 2005, compared to March 2004, and excluding the energy sector, industrial prices increased by 2.5% in the euro-zone and by 2.7% in the EU25. Prices in the energy sector grew by 11.5% and 14.9% respectively. Intermediate goods rose by 4.5% in the euro-zone and by 4.7% in the EU25. Capital goods increased by 1.7% and 1.9% respectively. Durable consumer goods grew by 1.4% in the euro-zone and by 1.2% in the EU25. Nondurable consumer goods rose by 0.8% and 1.1% respectively. Prices rose in all Member States for which data are available. The highest increases were observed in the United Kingdom (+ 9.8%), Denmark (+8.8%), Luxembourg (+ 6.9%).
