Brussels, 25/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Committee of Professional Agriculture Organisations in the EU (COPA) has chosen its new President for the period 2005-2007: Austrian Rudolf Schwarzböck will succeed Peter Gaemelke, whose two-year mandate is drawing to a close. Mr Schwarzböck has been the President of the Austrian Chambers of Agriculture since 1990 and a member of the COPA Praesidium since 1995. He was also President of the Lower Austrian Land Chamber of Agriculture from 1985 to 2005. He has a farm in Lower Austria. The organisation, which brings together 53 professional agricultural organisations from the 25 Member States, also elected several Vice-Presidents: Gerard Doornbos from the Netherlands, Esa Härmälä from Finland, Kyriakos Kyriakou from Cyprus, Jean-Michel Memetayer from France, Wladislaw Serafin from Poland and Ricardo Serra Arias from Spain.
