24/03/2005 (Agence Europe) - According to a survey in Thursday's edition of Le Figaro, 55% of Europeans support the accession of Ukraine to the European Union, 50% that of Russia, whereas only 45% support that of Turkey, and 35% that of Morocco. The survey was carried out in six of the largest EU Member States (Germany, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and Poland) and demonstrates that 63% of French and 64% of Germans are against turkey's accession to the Union, whereas the United Kingdom is the only country to give priority to Turkish accession (50%). Ukraine: , 77% of Poles, unsurprising want it to become a member of the European Union, as do 62% of Italians, 60% of Spaniards and 58% of French. (Over recent weeks the European institutions have repeated that the Ukraine's accession is not on the agenda and that relations with Kiev could develop fully via an improved action plan as part of the EU's neighbourhood policy).
