24/03/2005 (Agence Europe) - Around fifty organisations took part in the 7th Congress of Young European Socialists which was held from 17 to 20 March in Lisbon in the presence of the Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Socrates, the President of the PSE (Party of European Socialists) Paul Nyrup Rasmussen, the President of Internationale socialiste Antonio Guterres and the former European Commissioner Antonio Vittorino, former member of the European Convention which drafted the European Constitution. The Congress elected its new management committee and adopted and new action plan. Giacomo Filibeck, the newly elected President of ECOSY (European Community Organisation of Socialist Young) declared: “We have the ambitious aim of promoting the new concept of citizenship based on respect for social rights for all and particularly for the new generation”.
