24/03/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, the French minister for agriculture and fisheries, Dominique Bussereau, declared at Boulogne-sur-Mer that there was still a long way to go before an agreement could be reached with the European Commission on fishing quotas. According to AFP, following a visit to France's main fishing port with European Commissioner for fishing Joe Borg, Bussereau informed the press that the Commission was still very much set on protecting resources and the French government is supporting the fishermen who want to work better. Mr Borg went to Boulogne-sur-Mer, “not to resolve any particular problems but to have an exchange of views and understand each other's concerns”.
