Agreement on cooperation between Commission and HCR - launch of joint pilot project in North Africa but difficulties with Libya and Morocco

Brussels, 15/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission and the High Commissioner for Refugees spelt out the structure of their cooperation by signing a strategic partnership on Tuesday in Brussels and proceeding to an exchange of letters between the High Commissioner Ruud Lubbers and the European Commissioner in charge of Asylum, Franco Frattini.

Strengthened collaboration on programmes for third countries is being called for, given that Member States now want to develop an EU...
