Brussels, 10/01/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Head of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO), Mahmoud Abbas, was elected president of the Palestinian Authority on Sunday with 62.32% of the vote as opposed to 19.80% for his main rival the Moustafa Barghouti (independent), according to the official results sent out on Monday afternoon.
