Brussels, 03/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - The fourth biggest oil and gas company in the world (with branches in more than 130 countries), TOTAL, the European Mine, Chemical and Energy Workers Federation (EMCF), the Federation europeenne des cadres de la chimie et des industries annexes (FECCIA) and the Federation europenne des cadres de l'energie et de la recherche (FECER) signed an agreement on 22 November to enable social dialogue to play an important role in accompanying structural, economic and society changes, explained Jean-Jacques Guilbaud, Human Resources and Communications Director at TOTAL.
As part of the European social platform, TOTAL pledges to urge its companies in Europe to 1) develop social dialogue by improving information and agreement with social partners on planned changes to the company in Europe, 2) promote the forecasting of jobs and skills throughout workers' careers; and 3) support the implementation of appropriate solutions for employment, working conditions and social protection in the event of changes to TOTAL companies.
