Two of the new Member States already applying reduced vat rates but without any European-level legal foundation

Brussels, 01/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - the economic and financial affairs committee at the Parliament adopted on Tuesday, a draft legislative resolution to adapt directive 77/388/EC on harmonising value added tax (VAT). The objective is to provide legal security for new Member States that are already applying reduced rates of VAT in some high labour intensive services.
