The Belgian and Dutch family-run companies VANDERSANDEN and HUWA BAKSTEEN respectively, both of which make facing bricks, are to merge their activities on the Dutch market as of 1 January 2005. A new joint venture will bring together the activities of the three companies in question, which represent a total production capacity of over 200 million bricks a year.
