Brussels, 08/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - Next week in Strasbourg, President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso will present the plenary the European Parliament with his new re-shuffled team, 17 November) before the vote for investiture on 18 November (see other article and EUROPE 6 November, pp 8 and 9). As was done previously in Strasbourg, the competent committees will hold hearings for the two new Commissioners (Franco Frattini, Italy, justice and home affairs Andris Piebalgs, Latvia energy) and the Commissioner-designate, Hungary, Laszlo Kovacs who moves from energy to taxation and customs). Other major themes in the session: - Monday, the situation in Cuba; -Tuesday, the situation in Cyprus, climate change and the disappearance of nuclear material in Iraq; - Wednesday, results from European Council 4 - 5 November, speech by the president of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki, EU's Althea mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the lifting of the arms embargo to China.
