Brussels, 05/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is preparing a communication on external relations in the air transport sector. The aim of the document is to "clarify" the Commission's strategy in its negotiations to conclude air transport agreements with third countries, excepting the United States. The communication would above all take stock of the different kinds of agreements existing, from the most "liberal" to the most restrictive, as well as the different cases to which each kind of agreement corresponds the best. The document, which could be presented in January 2005, ensures continuity with the communication adopted by the Commission in November 2002 after the Court of Justice ruling in the Open Skies affair (EUROPE of 20 November, 2002).
