Brussels, 05/11/2004 (Agence Europe) -The Kok Group's report on the Lisbon Strategy is a step in the right direction, but concrete action is required, explains Eurocommerce in a press release. The time has come to take action, not only at EU level, but also at national and local levels. This is particularly true in the current climate of slow growth and low consumer confidence, said the President of Eurocommerce, Dr. Bernert. Eurocommerce fully agrees with the five priorities set out in the report, particularly the need for greater effort to improve enterprise and entrepreneurship and meet the challenges of an ageing population. Dr Bernert warns, however, that if no action is taken after the report, there is the danger that Europe will not achieve the objectives it has set itself.
