Bolkestein calls on Barroso to rule out European Federation

Brussels, 18/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - President-designate José Manuel Barroso is expected to state "a few elementary truths" in public. "One of these is that Europe will never be a federation", he added. This was stated by outgoing European Commissioner Frits Bolkestein in an interview with The Financial Times on Monday, who said that speaking of a federal Europe "generates wrong ideas".
