Measures in Spain to combat bluetongue

Brussels, 15/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the European Commission decided to ban the despatch and exportation of live cattle, goats and sheep as well as their embryos, semen and ova from several southern provinces in Spain due to the fact that, the day before, the bluetongue surveillance system had detected the circulation of the bluetongue virus in a number of sentinel cattle in the municipality of Jimena de la Frontera in the Province of Cadiz.
