11/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - In September, the European Commission adopted a decision granting Danish and British ships additional days absent from port (three and five days per month respectively) in areas where the cod reconstitution plans apply (Kattegat, North Sea and Skagerrak, West Scotland, Eastern Channel and Irish Sea). The decision is published in the Official Journal L311 of 8 October 2004. The two countries were able to gain more days at sea by providing the Commission with data on the 2002 and 2003 programmes for decommissioning of their fishing vessels. The cod plan was adopted by Council in December 2003 at the same time as the total allowable catches (TACs) and quotas for 2004 (EUROPE of 20 December 2003).
