Brussels, 08/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - Given the way the parliamentary hearing unfolded on Thursday, there seems to be unanimity among MEPs about confirming Joaquin Almunia's nomination as Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs in the future Barroso Commission. Many MEPs believe, as French centrist Jean-Marie Cavada (ALDE) put it, that the cause was won in advance.
