30/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - Liberal group coordinator at the European Parliament on budgetary questions, Anne-E. Jensen (Denmark) was "impressed" by the quality of Dalia Grybauskaité's performance on Tuesday during her hearing in front of MEPs (EUROPE 30 September 2004 p 6). In a press statement, Ms Jensen said that the Lithuanian Commissioner-designate for the budget and financial programming was "very well prepared" for the exercise and that she had proved that she mastered technical aspects on budgetary questions and that she was perfectly aware of what could and what could not be done. The MEP congratulated the courage of the Commissioner and her honesty on delicate subjects such as corporation tax, Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the rules on countries not receiving a volume of regional aid if it is above 4% of the GDP. Ms Jensen will recommend a positive opinion to her colleagues at the Liberal group on the designation of Ms Grybauskaité.
