Commission approves amended agreements for new Member States for protecting investments

Brussels, 30/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the European Commission approved the results and discussions held over recent months between the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Latvia, as well as with the candidate country, Romania and Canada in view of adapting bilateral agreements on the protection of foreign investment (PFA). Some foreign investment protection provisions proved contrary to Community legislation (Community acquis) and consequently have to be amended....
