Brussels, 07/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has opened a new website, "Dialogue with Citizens", designed to keep Europeans informed about their rights in the context of the single market. Living, working, studying, travelling... in ten chapters and 1,300 practical files, the site breaks down various facets of Community and national law. It explains, for example, the general rules on access to employment, or, in greater detail, how to register a car when moving to another Member State. Users are invited to use other information services when they are unable to find what they are looking for on this site, such as the "Europe Direct" 'phone line (Tel 00800 6789 10 11), or the conflict resolution system "Solvit". The site, which aims for user-friendliness, remains close to the language of Community legal texts, when describing the principle of non-discrimination for access to employment, for example. Some chapters also seem to call for a few adjustments, for example when a search for the recognition of qualifications for scientists in Germany brings up a general overview of the 6th framework research programme.
