Commission pleased to announce EU countries have won 286 medals, including 83 gold medals, at Athens Olympic Games

Brussels, 30/08/2004 (Agence Europe) - Reijo Kemppinen, European Commission spokesperson, was pleased to announce on Monday the results of the athletes' performances from the European Union at the Olympic Games in Athens, which finished on Sunday evening. The Commission was pleased to announce that with 83 gold medals out of a total of 286, the European Union had shone at the Olympic Games.
