Commission wants to increase protection for certain species of wild plants and animals

Brussels, 02/08/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has adopted a proposal to tighten the international rules for trading in rare animal and plant species. On the subject of marine life, it promises: - a ban on trade in the minke whale; - regulated trade in the Napoleon fish; - strengthened controls on the trade in the great white shark; - improved protection for the European date mussel.
