Brussels, 02/08/2004 (Agence Europe) - The team of EU civil and military experts tasked with identifying additional measures to be taken to strengthen the African Union (AU) cease-fire observer mission in Sudan, will go to Addis Ababa, Khartoum and Darfur, it was announced on Monday. As announced earlier (EUROPE of 31 July, p.4), its departure is planned for Tuesday. The team will be headed by Pieter Feith, a crisis management adviser for the EU's High Representative for CFSP, Javier Solana, and will be composed of seven representatives of the Presidency, the European Commission, the Council and the EU Military Staff (EUMS). It plans to remain on the ground for around five days.
