28/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - French socialist Pervenches Berès was elected on Wednesday by acclamation of the president of the economic and monetary committee at the EP (EUROPE 24 July p 10 on the subject of postponing the vote because the agreement between the political groups on the committee presidencies had not worked in the women's rights committee). The vice presidents are José Manuel Garcia Marallo (EPP-ED, Spain), Guntars Krast (UEN, Latvia) and British Conservative John Purvis.
