Hamid Karzai calls on NATO to strengthen its presence in all urgency

Istanbul, 29/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Afghan president Hamid Karzaï called on NATO to reinforce its presence on the ground well before the general elections in September. On Tuesday morning at the meeting of the 46 members of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council in Istanbul, he stated that "the Afghans need security today and not tomorrow!".
